Tyrrells

By cutting strips of crisps packets and ironing them together, I produced this stunning bag for my mock GCSE's.
The bag was that successful, it had made the monthly newsletter, "The Tyrrells Times".

To progress and improve my Tyrrells bag project, I developed it into a photography form by using my friend to model the bag in a suitable environment.

Making Contact Sheets
I thoroughly enjoyed learning the process of making contact sheets.

Affordible Arts Fair

1. My idea for the Affordable arts fair came from this image I had taken during a Game fair. As the season of festivity was approaching, I felt this would be a good image to symbolize a reindeer.

2. Using live trace on Illustrator, I was able to get an outline of the two deer which could be then filled with different Christmas patterns.

3. Using this design, I could then apply it to bags or stockings to be sold.

4. My outcome was a festive range of goody bags and stocking to be sold to the public.

Step up to HE

During my taster day at the Media Centre, I was set a Photo-marathon where we were given themes throughout the day and had to capture these in images.
During my walk around Hereford, I came across this tame cat that sat beautifully whilst I took some still images.

Festival of Britain

As part of my banner design, I decided to work with long exposure. By adjusting the camera settings to "BULB", I was able to create every single letter without the motion of the light ruining it.
On photo shop, I combined each set of words together and produced this image that has a sense of modernism.
By combining the 1951 Festival of Britain logo, I was also able to capture Post-Modernism in this piece.

Collaboration
A collaboration for my other halve's summer project. Not bad when struggling to keep the pro-markers going.

Photographic Montage

This unit aims to broaden and deepen learner skills, knowledge and understanding of creative thinking, across contemporary and historical art and design, in order to inform their own practice.
For this project we were required to create A3 Photographic Montages; based on the theme of a Portrait, and another based on Architecture.
I thoroughly enjoyed this projected as it focused on my main interest being photography. We researched artists such as David Hockney, who incorporate montage into their pieces so well. His work varies in style as some are overlapped images to create one whole image, where as some are made from a grid formation that do not make a perfect image but very effective.
Hockney was my main inspiration for my portrait and architecture pieces that took the aspect of a hundred photos piled into one.

Portrait piece
For the portrait theme I had come up with my friend Harriet simply drinking tea and enjoying herself in a cafe along with some props. I made it a black and white image as I felt it suited this scenario more. Each separate image was taken carefully as you had to take enough photos to capture the whole scene. Once I had collected enough photos I played about with them on photo shop to create a picture pile. The outcome was very good as shown above. With more smaller pictures, I could of captured more detail.

Architecture

I took my architecture piece to a small scale size as I did not have enough time to capture the whole black and white building in Hereford; this is something I would like to work on.
Inside the house is a small scale model of the building which I managed to capture in multiple photos and produce a montage that turned out very well.

New College, New Journey.

So starting at Art College was a bit trickier than expected as I went solo into Art & Design, where as my friends went into more Academic areas. I had waited since Year 8 of High school when I knew this college was the place to be.
Our first week was "Freshers week" so getting settled into the surroundings was basically the main task.
Fine Arts teacher, Anita , set us a task to create a visual diary of our first week engulfing measurements, times, taste and other quirky ideas within a slip of brown paper.
A weeks work jam packed into a little "suitcase". I even added destination stickers to give it a more authentic look. The idea of a suitcase was inspired the the task title "Journey". On a journey you would take luggage like a suitcase to hold your personal belongings, like this book holds my personal actions.
Each page is a documented day of my first week at college. Even my cereal is in there!

This project really expressed what I got up to in 7 days and encorporates a selection of mixed media that would soon be developed in oncoming Units.
